    Memorial Day and Tommy

LATTE OF THE DAY: IRISH JAVA  IRISH CREAM AND COFFEE FLAVORED SYRUP

On this the start of Memorial Day Weekend, I find myself thinking a lot about what has happened in my life the last 18 years...  Memorial Day weekend has two very distinct meanings for me...

The first, of course, is to remember and to honor those that have died before me... for me... Stop and say a prayer for all those... good and bad... that have gone before us in hopes of making life better for us... for most had dedicated their lives to making the future better for someone... not just military but civilian as well... someone in their lives needed a brighter future...I could go on about what we did as a child to remember those that went before us but some of those brings back too many pains and tears as well...

    sooooooo.....

The second distinct meaning of Memorial Day weekend for me is that my middle child... my second son... my handful... was born on Memorial Day 18 years ago on the 29th... This is the second or third year now that we will not have a grand party and BBQ to remember both his birthday and those that have died in our lives... I miss those but it is his choice and I have to respect that... and besides I have to work weird hours this weekend...(when it is all done I will post about it)

I think back a lot to that Weekend 18 years ago...I was in full term labor on and off for  38 hours... I mean my water broke 38 hours before he was born... I was in labor from start to finish on and off for about 50... EVEN THEN he was a handful... couldn't decide if he was coming out or not...

That was the weekend that Fitapaldi (spelling is way off)  won the INDY 500... that is the race that Mcdonald's first aired enormous amounts of chicken jokes using the then new chicken nuggets... the entire staff in the maternity ward heard each and every one of them each time they all left me alone for more than a few moments... even my mom heard them when she left me to go out and smoke without me lol...

He was born early in the morning on that Monday of the weekend... He waited until it changed to Monday in fact... it was 1 a.m when he was born...  so small and so helpless and yet even then he had everyone wrapped around him and people have always gone gaga over him ...

What a wonderful memory to have on Memorial Day...

    Thank you God!!!

    RACETRACK WOES

LATTE OF THE DAY: CALIFORNIA ORCHARD PEACH, ALMOND,  AND A SPLASH OF HAZELNUT

We had a sad event happen Saturday night at the race track... One of the racers died at the track... I won't go into any details of how he died... I will tell you about the mayhem it managed to cause on the other side of the track... the side that I work on mostly...

I don't remember if I had told you that I got demoted in a manner of speaking because someone I work with thought it was beneath him to take the tickets and search the bags and coolers as they came in but I no longer get to watch the crowds the whole race... just the last part of it... that is ok though because no one gets in if I don't think things are cool... I Get to search things if I think there is any sign of items not allowed to be brought into the racetrack... I mean a couple of cans of beer are fine... but there is to be no glass bottles or jars and  NO HARD ALCOHOL AT ALL... so if I think someone might have some hidden in a blanket or cooler, then I get to search... Most of the time, the people are pretty cool... some of them have an attitude about it but they understand as I do my job with a smile and make them feel comfortable as I do it... It isn't a bad job to be doing... it just wasn't what I was told I would be doing for all the hard work I did to set up the account with the racetrack...

I was doing my job last weekend when the incident happened... all of a sudden, the person that thinks women can't possibly do a good job at security type things calls me on the radio to stop what I am doing and open the gate that the ambulance MIGHT need to come through it and I needed to make sure that no one parked in front of the gate so they could come through it if they did... ok no biggie... I asked him what was going on... he said someone was having a heart attack and the ambulance was on its way...

I unlocked the gate and went to go take some tickets that had just came to the walk in gate when I was yelled at by the above mentioned person for not standing at the gate (which was 20 feet away) to ensure that no one parked there and that I opened it if I needed to... ok .... HE YELLED AT ME IN FRONT OF THE CROWD OF PEOPLE THAT HAD CAME TO THE GATE... I tried to tell him I could do both because I could see when the ambulance was coming but NOOOOOOOOOOOO....  I had be remain at the gate even if it meant people were just walking in without paying...

so that is exactly what I did...

I stood at that gate and watched the ambulance go into the pits... I stood at the gate and watched people walk right on past the ticket counter and into the gate without paying for it... still I stood at that gate... I watched the ambulance drive out of the pits... I stood where I was told to... about 15 minutes after the ambulance left, meathead called me on the radio and asked me what the heck I was doing and I told him very bluntly that I was doing as I was told and that was I was to stand and watch the gate until otherwise told... so he walked down to where I was and STARTED YELLING AT ME AGAIN... I yelled back and told him to stop yelling at me, that I was quite capable of doing both what was needed during the emergency and taking the tickets and that yelling at me in front of a crowd was not a good idea and that he would not do it again... and he continued to argue with me and yell at me... to the point that I was in tears and ready to walk off my job completely...but I pulled myself together and got back into the grove...

but my story doesn't end there...

Mrfit, as you know, is a volunteer fireman and an EMT-b/ and going to school part time for his paramedic certificate... he was also at the races that night selling raffle tickets for a 4 wheeler that the department is raffling off... The meathead actually had the nerve to ask me to get all the info from Mrfit and relay it back to him... as to what happened in the pits and who it was and blah blah blah... I did as I was told (although I have to question why I did as he told me if he is not the onsite supervisor)... Mrfit didn't "know" too much other than the driver did die and what he died of... fortunately and unfortunately it was not a race related thing... I mean it wasn't because of a crash or fumes or any other thing associated with a racetrack...  So I relayed the message back to the meathead and he put me at the flagger gate because I am the one that the owner showed what she wanted done at what time... IN OTHER WORDS:  I am the one that knows what the heck to do and when it needs to be done during the main events...  and all the rest of the evening was fine...

Thanks for letting me share that with you

GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

    Pre-race time

LATTE OF THE DAY: RASPBERRY DELIGHT  RASPBERRY, VANILLA AND CHOCOLATE

I have an hour before I have to get ready to go to the races... that sounds so funny sometimes because I don't actually get to watch the races... and because someone I work with thinks that one job was beneath him, I don't even get to watch the spectators in the stands... no I am an overpaid ticket taker the first half of the race into the second half, and then I get to walk the food court looking for drunks and punk kids... I still like my job, though, because I get to search any bags that I think are carrying in something not allowed... and I get to see everyone before they get to the stands...

It might rain at the track tonight... there is like a 10% chance tonight and a 40% tomorrow for rain after a week of almost record temps for may...

Tonight is going to be interesting, though, because Mrfit and beccaboo are going to the track... the fire dept. that Mrfit is on is raffling off a 4 wheeler and he is the one that is doing it at the racetrack this weekend... and he is taking boo with him... so we will see how it goes this evening...

Mrfit has been trying real hard lately... he dug up some dead rose trunks for me... it took me two and a half hours to get two of them out and there were 5 total... some of the smaller roots on these were 2 to 3 inches in diameter... so when I showed him, he got something from the firehall and got them out for me... so when boo gets the pics off of the camera from her trip, I will take pictures of what has been done... only have a couple of flowers open right now but will get them too...

There is a lot going on in my mind right now and I sort of lost the place I had to let them all out without a lot of repercussion... I spend my days with no one to talk to... Spend my evenings with a child that won't talk to me (so basically I talk to no one)... I spend my nights alone because Mrfit works nights and THIS HOUSE WONDERS WHY I AM LONELY AND WANT SOME ACTUAL HUMAN CONVERSATION AND FUN... They wonder why I yearn to be the center of someone's world for even half an hour... They ask me why I cry all the time anymore...

    More on that later...

Until then:  GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND HAVE A WONDERFUL REST OF THE WEEKEND...

    Racetrack and weather

LATTE OF THE DAY:  MOMMAMOCHA  STRAWBERRY AND CHOCOLATE       (THIS MOM PREFERS WHITE CHOCOLATE)

    HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
TO ALL MY WONDERFUL MOM BLOG FRIENDS :)

I am liking the job at the race track.  There hasn't been anything dull and boring about it the last two weekends... There were a couple of fights that had started... there were a couple of kids squeazing into a fenced off area under the stands and messing with women's purses as they watched the races...I had a lost child last week wanting his dad who I believe had gone to the beer garden without knowing the little guy was following... we had people on the safety fence that we had to get to move... We even had some people get rude because the tickets that they were given were for an $8.50 race and they tried using it on a $12.50 race... but all in all the majority of the spectators are very appreciative that we are there and are actually doing our jobs the way it is meant to be made.

I got to watch the best lightening storm last night... There was a fear of rainout at the race track...  The storm clouds were very very black but kept squirting around the race track... It was awesome to watch, really... People kept going out to get coats and warm things from their cars... The lightening started about half an hour before the races ended and were far enough away that no one was too worried and the races finished without any trouble...

I got home and MR.Fit said that we had just had a EBS over the tv... for those that don't know that is Emergency Broadcast Service... it broadcasts any severe and dangerous weather that the authority and officials believe is beyond our normal storm systems...we were to expect to be hit within the next 10 to 15 minutes with hail the size of nickels... (the hail never hit our area)  An hour later, the EBS said that the storm was now 30 miles northeast of us and the hail had increased in size to that of a quarter... I think it hit Glacier National park...

Right now it is raining... I think it smells so grand... the birds are singing so it is not that heavy of a rain...and my house is quiet... everyone is still asleep... well that I know of that is... Boo spent the night at Mesh's house after going to the races last night... Jett and MRfit are still asleep...

My yard is shaping up real well... If it doesn't rain all day I will take some pictures of what I spent the week doing... I still have a lot to do in it but after 5 years of neglect, it will take me time to get it back to exactly how I want it... besides I love the time in the yard... I talk to GOD a lot while I am out there...

I hope you all have a wonderful and Happy Mother's day...

    song quiz answers and more

LATTE OF THE DAY:  BANANA CREAM PIE BANANA, VANILLA, AND A HINT OF CHOCOLATE BISCOTTI FOR A CRUST LIKE TASTE... DON'T FORGET THE WHIPPED CREAM

Sorry I haven't been on in awhile... It has been an adventure at my house the last few weeks.  I won't go into it... will just say that I have been talking to God a lot...

I do have some good news to report... I have the security job at the local race track... every Saturday (with the exception of two)  this entire summer... It is soooooooo awesome... I don't mind not getting to see the cars go around so much... the spectators keep me on my toes
And I am not so much afraid of most of the riled up guys either... the ones that barked at me Saturday night I just turned over to the other person when he got done at the ticket booth... they were doing that ... ummmmm... you know  the female dog version bark... I suppose I should have just escorted them out of the park but I let the male guard deal with it... I am not that much into stopping 4 guys by myself lol...... I will eventually have to deal with them myself sometime this summer I suppose... They did look like they were regulars at the  track...

I have also been informed that I am THE barn guard for the arena... the supervising guard at that... the arena has told my boss that I am to be the one out there when the event calls for it... and there are several events that the horse owners have asked the arena to have me there by name... what a thrill it is to know that I have done something right that someone noticed enough to ask for me again by name...  even at the track, several of the spectators that are yearly regulars came up to me and told me I was doing a great job and are glad that someone out there finally does their job and not just watch the race...

My yard is taking shape... I have been working a lot on it during the days... you know the days that my daughter thinks I am sitting on my behind doing nothing... I am spending that time working in God's creations talking a lot to God... It seems to make the time go by way too fast because before I know it little one is home from school and I have to go back inside and do things that she wants done... I have yet to figure out why she can't do them herself, other than she is a "real" "princess" and is in need of something or other.......

So God does work in HIS time, not mine, and I have to learn to wait on that in my family life as well... without opening my mouth and without making things worse...

NOW for the answers to the song quiz:
    1) Feel LIke making Love  Bad Company
    2) Don't bring me down  ELO
    3) Gloria  Laura Branigan
    4) Two out of three ain't bad MeatLoaf
    5) Always something there to reming me  Maked Eyes
    6) Sounds of silence  Simon and Garfunkel

I spend most of my music time listening to a variety of music types, styles and ages... I prefer those of the early 80's, 70's and 60's to the most modern of rock... I like a lot of country... I like classical, instrumental, celtic, ....... you get the idea...   once upon a time I had a dream of being a music teacher... but gave that up years ago for other things that were important to me at the time... it seems silly now that they were so important to me but they were none the less... I will have more songs ready for you sometime in the near future... so keep that little info in mind about what I like

God bless and take care of all of you
